Our Story
Kochs Electric was founded in 2008 by David Koch, a licensed master electrician who had spent years working residential and commercial jobs across Indianapolis before deciding to build something of his own. The idea was straightforward: do the work right, treat clients honestly, and build a company worth trusting. From the beginning, we set out to serve both homeowners and businesses across Indiana, because we believed that quality electrical work shouldn’t depend on the size of the job or the client.
What started as a small operation out of Indianapolis has grown into a full-service electrical contracting company with 1,200+ completed projects, trusted by residential clients, commercial property owners, and industrial facilities throughout the state. The work has changed over the years – panels that were once rarities are now standard upgrades, EV charger installations have gone from a niche request to a regular part of our schedule, and solar and backup power systems have become a meaningful part of what we offer. But the fundamentals have stayed the same: show up, do the job properly, and stand behind the work.
We’re based at 202 E Palmer St in Indianapolis, and Indiana is where we work. Kochs Electric holds Indiana Electrical Contractor License #EC21400047, issued by the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission, and carries general liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every job. We know the communities here, the housing stock, the businesses, and the infrastructure – and that local knowledge matters when you’re making decisions about something as critical as your electrical system.
Today, Kochs Electric handles everything from residential rewiring and panel upgrades to commercial build-outs, industrial service, generator installation, and EV charging infrastructure. All work is performed to Indiana Electrical Code and NEC standards, with permits pulled and inspections passed as required.
